Milam Township 1891.  Peter Dunn, Section 33.

History of Macon County, 1880.

Milam contains 19 square miles.  The name is derived from the Milam apples that thrived in the area.  the first settlement was established in 1851.  "A noteworthy fact is that in this township there is no preacher, no doctor, no lawyer, no pauper, no drunkard, no empty houses and no family without a house."
